Hi Folks,
Anyone have any experience with volume licensing app store apps? I'd hate to have buy each one 60 separate times! I know you're allowed 5 device installs per app, but I find the EULA to be so grey that I don't know whether this is legal (only home use and business of what education is neither).

You essentially pick your app, add it to the basket pay via credit card. You are then provided with a list of purchases on a spreadsheet. You then install the app on your master image ipad and restore the backups to the rest.

4th February 2013, 06:00 PM #6 all it gives you is a spreadsheet with your purchases. You then stick them on the ipads. Its just meant to manage your purchases not the ipads.
All you get is an account where you can buy multiple copies of one app. YOu cant do this on a standard account.

If you use a redeem code from your VPP purchase spreadsheet to install your app on your master image, you can only restore it 3 times before paid apps stop copying.
The way we went about it was; purchase through VPP so we had the licenses, then use a different itunes account to purchase a paid app which we had licenses for through VPP, put this onto a master image, then backup and restore as many times as you like.

The way Apple want you to deal with paids app you'll need to link your VPP spreadsheet into your Apple Configuration Utility / MDM solution to make use of the VPP licenses you've purchased.
This is just a total faff and to use the Apple Configuration Utility with paid apps you have to put your device into supervised mode which then means you cant access the internal storage, so it's kind of useless.
As i said above, we purchased the VPP licenses, then used a normal itunes account and bought the app again a single time to put onto our master image which then can be restored as many times as you like. If Apple ever asked, we have paid for the licenses just not used their rubbish software or an MDM which doesnt do what we want it to to deploy the apps.

When we went to redeem in itunes and put in a code from the VPP spreadsheet the app wouldn't install beyond the third or fourth device, this happened with around 15 apps so wasnt a one off *shrug* I dont know if your meant to 'redeem' more than 1 code from your VPP sheet though? We didnt like to mess with it too much so we just worked around it which wasnt a particular problem
