Hello all,
Has anybody had any dealings with an IT company called Softcat http://www.softcat.com? They contacted me and seem nice. They provide various IT services and solutions and we are currently considering taking out an EES agreement with them. Obviously, having not used them before I am just looking to see what they have been like with other people. They pride themselves on customer service aparrently.
Thanks

26th September 2011, 06:39 PM #2 I know Softcat they've been around for ages. Theyre similar to Insight or Misco.
Honestly, I've heard they're cheap and I've heard theyre expensive so I guess it depends who you get as account manager. If you need me to do comparisons so you can test them, just say.
Cheers
Luke

26th September 2011, 07:21 PM #4 I've been using them for a couple of years now.
They've been consistantly cheaper for MS and Mcafee licenses than anyone else. Their Microsoft prices was the only one under £20k (this was the pre-EES costs, for about 650 machines), they're still a bit cheaper on the EES, but this is in the region of £7.5k rather than £8k-9k from the othe quotes I had.
Dunno about their hardware prices.

26th September 2011, 07:43 PM #6 They are my current first choice for everything based on customer support (although I've only ever dealt with one person there), they also did an EES and Adobe volume license deal for me and the prices were good.

I think it's fair to say with any supplier, it's just as important who you get as an Account Manager as which supplier you use. You want someone that's got plenty of experience and connections. It's not always what you know.......

26th September 2011, 09:50 PM #9 I've done a lot of business with Softcat too. I've used the same AM as Morganw as well as two others over the years.
Currently have two EES and one soon to expire SA + have just pushed through Master Collection CS5.5
I'd echo all of the above positive comments - especially pricing. They appear very honest - If I go back and say I've had cheaper elsewhere they will either match or better if it's possible.

20th November 2011, 07:38 PM #11 We get a lot of calls from them but have never used them for anything yet.
I had a conversation with them about the Adobe licensing and frankly it didn't seem to be worth the sort of money they were quoting me.

20th November 2011, 08:09 PM #12 Used them for some of the software we purchased after tending through Buying Solutions. Seemed to get good pricing from them (well they were the cheapest!) and the account manager was fairly good.

I have used them for Microsoft Licencing, they have been quick and cheap and service has been good. Only negative thing I can think of for them is that they seem to send more spam than usual that I have to keep opting out of.
