we have a wsus running on one of are servers and that rolls out the updates and hot fixes for me, then i configure a group policy computer configuration > admin templates > windows Components/windows update to the wsus server and it does it for me.

Another vote for WSUS, it is much much better than it used to be and very easy to use.

Well i havent got WSUS setup just yet...its on my to do list.

I just need to put out this one fix for the SP3 profile issue. When you try to log on to a Windows XP SP3-based computer by using a roaming profile, the roaming profile cannot load.

    Ok, here:

    1. set yourself up a Hotfix folder in your netlogon share, and in there a folder for each hotfix (I suggest you use the hotfix number, so \\domain\netlogon\hotfix\958058 for this one). You can use some other share if you want, but in netlogon you don't have to think about permissions. Pop the hotfix executable in there.

    2. Script attached to put alongside the exectuable, just change the variables inside it to match your environment and the hotfix you're deploying. Remove the .txt extension.

    3. Call from the startup scripts of your favourite group policy object, sacrifice a goat and make some coffee.

Edit: and whoever neg-repped... helpful enough now?

Nono, if you do both at the same time a bolt of lightning will strike you when three hags meet on the heath.

    And yes, I did:
