AB Tutor Client Install
I have just downloaded a trial copy of AB Tutor to play with. Installing the teacher module was no problem. I've come to install the client module and would like an easier way of deploying than going to each PC. As the software is a MSI package I was wondering whether anyone had any usefull tips for deploying by GPO in Win2k3. Or is there another way of doing this.
Thanks
Michael.

First grab a free app called beyondexec from t'internet... save to d:\
create a share with the abtutor control files in...
save a local batch file eg. D:\abcontrol.bat with the following contents modified for your needs...
net use z: \\machine\share /USER:domain\username password
z:\setup.exe /s /p abc
go to d:\...
type beyondexecv2.exe \\targetcompname -cs abcontrol.bat
and off ya go...
you can also create a list of computer names for doing whole rooms at a time...
AB Tutor Control is shortly going to ver 4 which will have the facility to push client installs out...

Yup just allocate the msi the default installation method for it is the client only.
That's what I've done only downside is the connection is set with no password but you can do that afterwards from the control app.

You can set the connection password at install time. You just need to supply the password as values for PASSWORD and PASSWORD2 properties. The only thing you need to bear in mind, is to ensure that your users don't have read access to the MSI/MST as they could gain access to the passwords.

Has anybody found a soultion to an issue I've got using the v4.2 MSI for a silent install. Each time it runs it pops up stating "publisher could not be verified", any ideas?

Try to verify that the vendor/publisher is not listed in the "Untrusted Publisher" list in IE.
IE>Tools>Internet Options>Content Tab.
Select "Untrusted Publisher"

Thanks Geoff, but no, there are just 2 generic Microsoft entries in my "Untrusted Publishers" list.

Doesn't seem to corrupt, since it will install if you click 'Run Anyway'. I'll see if AB Consulting have any further advice. Thanks.
