I'm trying to install my first LNM Server on VMWare so that I can create a video for others to follow. I've hit a rather major problem though, in that I can only get as far as the 'copying files' stage (step 8 of 8).
To get this far, I unzipped the file and then extracted the LNM.iso file from within MSLNM.iso (after finding that I could not boot off that) and I have added the server and workstation files to MSLNM.iso.
I have tried changing the iso image at this point to the MSLNM.iso image but it just sits there - it doesn't even complain that the disc cannot be found.
According to the instructions, you should just be able to install from the MSLNM disc and it works.![]()
Ric,
The MSLNM.ISO should be bootable, the lnm.iso inside the file structure is used by the LNM setup proceedure.
Do not modify the disk structure.
Drop me a PM if you want a copy of my iso
Geoff

Ric, I have set it up on a physical PC, but all I did was download the zip, extract the ISO from it, and then burnt that to CD using Nero then booted the PC from that.

Something else I wanted to check, is there a typo in the documentation that says where to copy the WinXP files to? It says you need a folder called WinPXSP2 within the Sources folder - WinXPSP2 would make more sense to me.
I'd like to check this before burning a DVD to see if VMWare prefers that.

Mine has made the folders it needs, i just booted from the CD and then answered the 5 or so questions that it asked, then it asked for the Server 2003 SP1 CD, it copied all that to the PC and then asked for the XP SP2 disk then after that it restarted and off it went, and about an hour later it was ready to go looking like a normal Server install

@john: I want to copy the source files to the DVD for install - I'm rather lazy and can't be bothered swapping discs - plus I would have to burn discs for server and workstation too since my copies are on a Technet disc.

ah rite ric, i see why you are doing it that way now, for new things like this I like to follow the simple way of going about it before getting more complex. Also its not that bad to make 2 disks, they always come in handy having SP1 / SP2 already on them.
