Yes potentially, apart from a cradle type setup instead of wires everywhere would be the way forward. Modern phones do have excellent processing power and are fast enough to run most apps and surf the web.
It would be great if more smartphones had a webtop mode where you could switch between the phones operating system (Android) and say, Ubuntu...

If on the apple iPhone they used a fast enough cpu with enough ram and follow suit like there computer line ref being able to multi boot so you could have linux, windows, iOS and android etc ??Quote:

Jon Honeyball in PC Pro made a similar prediction but around Windows 8 tablets... seeing as they should have a lot more grunt than the equivalent Android \ iOS device idea being you use it in tablet mode out and about but when back at home dock it up and use it like a standard Windows desktop... best of both worlds?
Pretty much, although becomes an ultrabook rather than a desktop. I've then got an HDMI cable to connect mine to a better monitor. Haven't used my main machine since getting it.Quote:

Definitely works as that. There are a handful of different apps I wouldn't be without on it now. Even at work I'm finding I tend to use it for e-mail and Lync, mainly using the desktop for development.Quote:

I'm curious about the lack of USB of the tablet itself. i tend to keep a lot of data on my memory stick so i can use it on my work desktop or my home laptop, etc... if i couldn't access this on the asus i might have to sart working differently, i.e. have it solely on the tablet and carry that wherever i want to use the data (not unreasonable) or move to cloud storage
