Astronomers! Become An Exoplanet Hunter
Link 1: With your help, we are looking for planets around other stars
Other similar Citizen Science Projects:
We find new planets by looking at how the brightness of a star changes over time
Link 2: Solar Stormwatch
Link 3: The Milky Way Project
Help them spot explosions on the Sun and track them across space to Earth. Your work will give astronauts an early warning if dangerous solar radiation is headed their way. And you could make a new scientific discovery.
Link 4: Moon Zoo
The Milky Way Project aims to sort and measure our galaxy, the Milky Way. Initially we're asking you to help us find and draw bubbles in beautiful infrared data from the Spitzer Space Telescope.
Link 5: Galaxy Zoo
Welcome to Moon Zoo — with your help, we hope to study the lunar surface in unprecedented detail. Thanks to the help of the Moon Zoo community we have already visually classified 1,483,158 images from NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO).
Link 6: Old Weather
Galaxy Zoo: Hubble uses gorgeous imagery of hundreds of thousands of galaxies drawn from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope archive. To understand how these galaxies, and our own, formed we need your help to classify them according to their shapes — a task at which your brain is better than even the most advanced computer. If you're quick, you may even be the first person in history to see each of the galaxies you're asked to classify.
Link 7: Galaxy Zoo: Understanding Cosmic Mergers
Help scientists recover worldwide weather observations made by Royal Navy ships around the time of World War I. These transcriptions will contribute to climate model projections and improve a database of weather extremes. Historians will use your work to track past ship movements and the stories of the people on board.
Link 8: Galaxy Zoo: The Hunt For Supernovae
Edit: I should have added:
Your task in this latest Galaxy Zoo project is to help us catch exploding stars – supernovae. Data for the site is provided by an automatic survey in California, at the world-famous Palomar Observatory, and astronomers are ready to follow up on your best candidates at telescopes around the world.
Many Zooniverse projects will have education resources developed explicitly for them. To explore the current set of resources, please visit the individual Zoos listed below: Galaxy Zoo Resources Solar Stormwatch Resources
