I like the bit at the end there, after discussing the expanding sphere of plasma and series of thermnuclear reactions that would engulf pitcher, batter, stadium and city: A careful reading of official Major League Baseball Rule 6.08(b) suggests that in this situation, the batter would be considered "hit by pitch", and would be eligible to advance to first base.

I thought the Sun was too small to become a black hole?

It is. I think that the black hole reference is a nod toward the amount of mass added to the Sun by throwing water at it in an attempt to douse it.
