Vincent Van Gogh's 'Starry Night' recreated using multitouch, interactive animation

I bet Van Gogh would love this if he were alive today...

"Starry Night" is arguably one of the most recognizable paintings in the world, and is now the subject of a more modern art project. Created by artist Petros Vrellis, the newly interactive "Starry Night" uses a multi-touch touchscreen which allows you to touch the painting and watch it react in real time. The project itself uses 80,000 'particles' which flow around the 1920x1080 resolution environment at 30 frames per second. The results, which also have a musical soundtrack, are quite stunning.
