I was joking about it. While there are many ways to do it, this seems to be the method GCHQ were looking for.

Although, it would have been nice if they made it properly. That is, to only have one possible solution that would enable you to get to the end page.

Also, turning off google caching would have been a good idea.

I see the computer press have picked up on GCHQ not bothering to hide the answer page from web spiders. GCHQ code-breaking challenge cracked by Google search and Puzzle solved.

Nope, and neither would any of the people who got to the end by different means.

I cracked it. Added "/soyoudidit.asp" to the end of the web address and now I can apply.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "directory traversal" please, and the steps you took to be able to find the end page by that method please? Sounds interesting and something useful..

I cracked it the way the guys did in the video's, however it was a lot of effort. I applied nonetheless so the job centre can see I am applying for jobs over 60 mins away! lol

I'm going to have to apologise here. I thought it was directory traversal, but that was ANOTHER site. [I get bored quickly, and this other site was set up for people to hack.]

It's a cool hack, but it needs a really rare vulnerability.


I think I'm going to have to give this another go, I can't remember how I did it. Maybe I didn't do it...
