be nice if they actually helped the guy once they pulled him out, rather than just leaving him in middle of the road for the paramedics

help him how though. what if you tried to help him and the medics later told you that you done something wrong and have paralysed him for life. granted they could have done that just by dragging him, but i think any other moving/turning/lifting could do more damage than good.
the crowd did the most important thing they could in freeing him from his surroundings

Got to agree with @MK-2 - this guy looked well beyond basic first aid, and I personally wouldn't have touched him once he was away from the immediate danger. The most that I would have done was sit next to him and keep talking to him until the experts arrive, just to try and keep him calm.

I found myself shouting "shut the car door the other side" at the screen when they were trying to tip it!

I've read elsewhere that he's in intensive care. Note the guy in the suit not helping. My money is on "SMIDSY".

And where are the biker's leathers and helmet? Hmmm...

i think thats a separate point. these people helped someone in need, they didnt assess whether he was right or wrong, they helped someone who could have died.

if you saw a child on a bike get hit by a car, you wouldnt sit there doing nothing and think "ah well, should have worn a helmet" even if its true.

Worth noting that there is a police officer on the scene, talking into his radio just after they've lifted the guy free, so he may well have told the crowd to back away and await the paramedics.

I still think somebody should have sat next to him and played the comfort role - I mean nobodies going near him so goodness knows what's going through his mind.... "Am I a lost cause?" "Why is no-one helping?"

All someone needs to do is say "look mate, you're away from the wreckage, the ambulance crew is on their way now, and you're going to be alright - just hang in there" - saying something like that can make the world of difference.

Other than that, it would be silly for anyone without full training to go near him and start moving him about.

Umm.. Maybe that's why I made a separate point of it?

Kudos to the "Good Samaritans" who put themselves at risk to save the guy from the fire. Standing back once the most immediate danger was removed makes perfect sense; no point in the ambulances having to deal with multiple burn injuries in addition to the seriously mashed biker.
