    Last.fm

formerlly audio scrobbler, last.fm is an awesome sortof music/social networking/random web 2.0 site.
It works in many ways, you sign up and download the last fm player/plugin, this "scrobbles" every track you play, this means it sends the info of the track you play to the server and is logged on your profile...
your profiles updated in realtime, and your weekly most played artists is updated, yes...weekly. You can add friends, find people that like the same music as you, join bands profiles, see up coming gigs of bands you like, ect ect.
one of the best things is last fm radio, you can use it online or with the last fm player, it lets you search for a band or "tag" and searches a database of similar artists, then plays a stream of songs (no ads!).

To conclude, its awesome, check it out!

    Re: Last.fm

Mine isn't update that much - mainly due to changing my preferred media player a lot and forgetting to set the last.fm details or it not supporting it (Amarok, Audacious, BMP, MOC, Exaile, Juk, musikCube...)

Yeah, Amarok is pretty good now. I just change player that often I never get round to filling in the username & password

Plus the ID3 tags on my music is all over the place. Eg. songs by 'air' are separate from 'Air'... I'm too lazy to sort them

haha air are quality. theres a program around that sorts out tags like that, i started it on mine, but for 14000 music files its a mission!
