    Thinking logically, its cast, a soft or mixed metal or something as its tarnished. There is a lot of corrosion or deposit on the one end so ill assume both are the same.

    Wild guess a transmission axle or similar with what looks like a slight reduction.

    Is it a stool for a stool? Stand it up on end and then a stool can sit on the stool's stool legs.

    You can be wild and put a stool's stool on a stool's stool to seat a stool. Any more than that though and the stool is just gonna fall off and break.

    Definitely an axle of some type and it wouldn't have been a very big wheel - the two ends are exactly the same and look like they were once embedded into a material which has since rotted away, the tips look like they were beaten/hammered.

    Hang on it's not an ancient pizza box lid holder is it?
