Not a bad camera in its own right, I have it's slightly older brother, the 450d.

Those was taken with a Tamron 70-300mm which is okish but my favorite lens [ which lives on my camera ] is the Canon EF 100mm f2.8 USM Macro Lens. Lots of dosh [ more than the camera ] but it takes fantastic photos.

Canon EF 100mm f2.8 USM Macro Lens (4657A011AA) - Warehouse Express
Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro Lens - Canon Fit (5525) - Warehouse Express

The Tamron is noisy and slow at focusing but good for zoom but the Canon lens is just amazing. Blistering fast at focusing and silent.

Cheers. Ones of my schools has that lens, might have have a play around with it. I'm guessing you used a tripod on those pics?

Oh yes, I think checking the EXIF data the lens was at 300mm and there is no stability control on it. Also using a remote shutter cable which makes life a tad easier too.
