It's worse when you clean it and then eat your lunch after forgetting to wash your hands!

well that said, I have seen PCs caked in dust where the owners have NEVER cleaned them and have had them for around 3-5 years. I wear a dust mask when cleaning them!

I went to service one in a car parts factory - a little 386 that acted as a print server - every internal part was covered with about 1cm black grease and dust - I didn't dare touch it in the end - scared that it would never work again if I tried to clean it.

I cleaned out a friends while at uni that was worse than all of these. You know the phrase 'dust bunny'? It had a COLLOSSAL one inside it, a huge ball of dust, along with all the caking around vents, heatsink, etc.

We didn't have a vacuum to hand as we were in halls, so to start it off I held it out of the kitchen window (the only one that would open wide enough) and shook. So much dust came out and blew around that the porter thought it was smoke and that the kitchen was on fire.

I always thought using a hoover in a PC was bad? I know I killed a PC by hoovering it (at least thats what I attributed it to as it was working before the clean out and wasnt after)

Something to do with all the static the vacuum cleaner creates?
