Smoothwall VPN
Hi,
Got a smoothwall school guardian on trial - mainly for vpn use.
We only have 1 public IP, which is setup on the router.
Smoothwall support have helped me setup certs etc.
When I'm at home I can vpn onto the router then MSTSC onto the server.
When I try with the OpenVPN it says Unable to Parse IP (Or something on those lines).
Don't particular want a second public IP.
Have set port forwarding on the router so everything inbound on port 443 goes to the internal IP (smoothwall) on port 443. Is that correct and can this be done this way?

Should be OK - you on TCP or UDP for the VPN? UDP is faster but TCP survives better.

It may well be NAT Transversing problems I'd guess. What router are you using at work? As it will be NAT'ing the connection that will add one layer of NAT, and then you will, I guess, using a router at home so that is a 2nd NAT device so they won't always work.
Check in the VPN Config, under an advanced button there is a bit about NAT-T Transversing (or something along those lines) try unticking it and giving it a go that may help.
But I do echo Toms post, phone the support guys they are very helpful and great people and got my VPN setup and working well for me.
