Just a thought, we run proxy for student traffic through ISA and for our deployment it gets about a 13% hit rate (data usage saved) from the cache. With this kind of hit percentage I am beginning to wonder if it is even worth channelling any of the traffic through a proxy at all.
What are others getting from their proxies and is there any point in still running them at all?

You should probably differentiate between hits (people who requested X) and bytes (file size) in your survey.
For example (and it's holidays, so not so many staff using it):
In the last 60 minutes, I have a cache return of 7.3% per request, but in terms of bytes 34% of files were served from the cache.
And picking a random report from when the kids were in (mid-May):
Cache return of 4.3% per request, but in terms of bytes 24.5% of files were served from cache.
So the proxy cache is saving me a minumum of 24.5% of traffic in terms of files downloaded.

Who is getting 75% plus from their cache, are they disconnected from the internet entirely or running a site whitelist?
