over the last 5 days i've had (from a connection promised at 10mb when we renewed with BT 6 months ago) no more than 9680Kbp/s and as low as 1096Kbp/s. At one point, the upstream rate was slightly higher than the downstream. BT are refusing to accept that there is anything wrong with this, in a 'well, it still works doesn't it' kind of way.

I had reason to be doing stuff with my bthomehub last night, and couldn't help noticing that although the speedtest on my phone shows around 12-18Meg, the hub shows a constant speed of 23Meg....

I was getting a consistently lower rate on my old Dell laptop which only had a 54mbps adapter...I bought a tiny Edimax 150mbps adapter and now get the same speed on laptop and desktop...

Well I pay for 50Mbps with Virgin, which is as fast as the offer here at the mo. Probably get arounf 35-40Mbps consistently however I have noticed one anomaly - LoveFilm still pauses and caches even on SD quality. Funny thing I've just spent the week at me mums with a 2Mbps (if lucky) Plus.Net connection and had zero streaming problems from LoveFilm, go figure!

19.6Mbit download and 2.2Mbit upload here on an ADSL2+ Annex M product from my own company
I do live about 400m from the telephone exchange which does help!

Still not great here.
I have cable available but after you take out there internet + phone + basic TV then it's getting expensive.. I guess I could port my BT line mind may save a few quid. But I would lose my email address that I have had for 10 year ( although I own 3 other domains with email on my own server )

Think that is from all the port blocking / traffic shaping / management that VM do which is pants, wish I had the money to swap to an ADSL2+ connection, might be slower but at least consistent

7Meg if I'm lucky! Even though I get 7 meg the ISP is so bad that half the time the internet connection itself disconnects and doesn't come back up until 8am the next morning!
