    Advice on SSL cert

    Morning all,

Need advice on obtaining a SSL cert for our school domain which we are getting a portal set up to allow teacher and pupils to upload and download files from their personal areas via a browser.
I have been told that schools can get a free cert from certain companies - what's the best way to procede?

Or if your school/la is signed up to JA.net, you can get a free SSL through them: Janet Certificate Service

I would avoid a lot of the free ones as there trust is being eroded, there are still some that are trusted but the list is getting shorter.
Janet uses comodo certificates but comodo have a stint through resellers/partners of issuing certificate for gmail.com and google.com to the wrong people. (no connection to janet)
I would look at the issue company and decide if they are trust worth and have good verification process in place.
