Unhappy Access to you tube available through https

Have a Fortigate 110C appliance that runs our internet filtering/firewall.

Currently access to youtube.com is blocked for students but if they put in https://youtube.com it's lets them access the whole site unfiltered.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this. Block for youtube still lets through https.

The SSL certificate for youtube is for *.google.com but putting a block in for that blocks access to google as it should but still lets through youtube.

This is driving me crazy so I have resorted to a keyword block on Impero to shutdown the window when the word youtube is typed. Harsh but fair I think .

    Any help please????

    Hi,

I have had the same problem in the past using bloxx and it was because of the url entered in to the database, instead of putting YouTube - Broadcast Yourself try blocking just youtube.com this should then block the page

You need to enable Deep Scan in you firewall protocol options under HTTPS

Didn't work for me. I've got the ISP looking into this now as it only happens with youtube and they can replicate it on their system too.

Firewall -> Protocol Options -> select your protocol policy -> HTTPS -> Put a tick in "Enable Deep Scanning"

I don't have access to that option hence I have had to leave it with the provider. Thanks anyway
