Internet filtering for boarding school staff (Those that are onsite after normal hrs)

We have recently changed our filtering and now have the ability to configure different access for staff and students.

However, this morning we (the helpdesk) got a request from a member of the boarding staff to allow access to betfair.com.

We are considering taking the stance of 'you are using the schools internet facilities and therefore we will only allow access to particular websites if they are of an educational benefit, therefore this request cannot be granted. If you would like access to the likes of gambling sites then you will have to provide your own service at your own cost. ie get BT broadband'.

What do other boarding schools do? Do you allow staff access to whatever they want after school hours? (Porn and abuse sites etc will always be banned)

If you have any AUPs covering this sort of thing can I be cheeky and ask for a copy!?!

    Thanks in anticipation!

Same as during the day here. Never been asked to unblock anything, but would probably take the same stance you outlined if we were asked...
