    NTLM authentication pop up

    We have occasional issues of the the smoothwall proxy popping up the authentication box when browsing the web, we are using ntlm authentication. It is causing issues on staff laptops and fat client machines, however the thin clients are all ok and every device goes through the same proxy settings, any ideas? I can by pass this by authenicating as an administrator but this only works for short period and then the issue appears again!

    This doesn't solve your problem but will give you some breathing space hopefully, change to NTLM identification instead.

    rickypike I'd like to get some more info on this;

    What browser are you using?
    What version of Guardian?

    And at some point I'd like to have a look at some logs if possible.

    Yeah that would be good, also I am still working on linking the Smoothwall box to a new VM for the database, is there any chance you could take a look at that for me aswell? I have built the VM and installed the ISO, just need a little help with configuring it to work for the database, do I need to import/copy any settings across for the new VM or just change the database settings only?

    We had this problem in September for a large number of our users. It appeared to be related to issues we had with our Forest root server and the number of AD requests / possibly deep routing of the AD structure. We tweaked this a little and not had the problem in weeks.
