I don't have any experience of this sort of thing so have just left it for another year. But there is going to have to be a moment when I do have to consider it.
Anyone out there in a Primary or Middle school who can help me?
We are doing this kind of thing for our feeder Primarys Witch, and we will be handling the connectivity and filtering for them and working in parternship, should costs looks favorable, with Smoothwall and LUNS for it all. Are the secondarys above able to help you at all?

Our schools have a broadband group putting together advice but it won't be available until October time, for various reasons.

Unfortunately not. We are actually ahead of one of them in terms of tech and AFAIK it uses SWGfL. Don't know about the other one - the NM is on here - I'll ask

Primaries leaving a LA and moving to a private supplier with a small Smoothwall box (e.g. UTM-300 or something) to double as a firewall and filtering should see a cost reduction if doing it right. If the secondaries are charging a nominal amount to help support the Smoothwall side of things then i can't see why primaries couldnt do all that without making a saving....our's do / would / will.
