Outlook 2010 will pick up the email address field from AD, so as long as it is populated and your autoconfig is setup correctly when users come to run Outlook for the first time they literally only have to click next through the wizard, pop in their password and away they go.

Outlook Hotmail Connector has never worked for me for Live@edu accounts. Try this:

    - get the POP, IMAP and SMTP connection parameters from the web mail page help (the (?) symbol). In my case they are:

    Configuración de POP externo:
    Nombre del servidor: pod51004.outlook.com
    Puerto: 995
    Método de cifrado: SSL
    Configuración de IMAP externo:
    Nombre del servidor: pod51004.outlook.com
    Puerto: 993
    Método de cifrado: SSL
    Configuración de SMTP externo:
    Nombre del servidor: pod51004.outlook.com
    Puerto: 587
    Método de cifrado: TLS

Then configure the account in Outlook using the protocol you want: (IMAP or POP3) and SMTP according to the given parameters (server, port, and security transport protocol (SSL o TLS))
