17th October 2010, 11:48 AM #1 Anyone who uses EMBC notice issues with google images not showing up correctly?
Issue seems to be that when you do an image search that about two thirds of the images are "red cross'd" and blank but when you click them the image shows up as if you would expect it to do had the thumbnail been present.
A few of our admin staff are complaining about not being able to find images for presentations \ newsletters and I was wondering if anyone else had any issues.
Regards,
Sam

17th October 2010, 01:09 PM #2 Hrm. GIS serves images as in-page base64 these days IIRC - so it must be some sort of in-page mangle? Unlikely to be a straight block on a domain or url. Be interested to see the page source of a pair of identical GIS requests, one proxied, one not.

17th October 2010, 03:28 PM #3 If they are looking for images for presentations / newsletters I would recommend they use Flickr: Creative Commons as a standard. You will find copyright materials coming up in Google searches and they shouldn't be used, especially for newsletter which will be seen by the outside world.
I've only seen one ticket for this so far (a different school to you) so can you make sure you raise it as a ticket please?

18th October 2010, 10:30 AM #6 Just for the record I've contacted EMBC and they are looking into it.
Ticket was recently updated to show it was the same as a number of other requests... so here's hoping they'll be getting this sorted soon.
