    Problems with btinternet.com / yahoo.com

We are having a problem with btinternet.com emails. If a user sends an email from a btinternet.com email address to our email server in school, they get this error message:

    Code:
    Subject: failure notice

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

    <Email@school Email>:
Connected to **.**.**.*** but connection died. Possible duplicate! (#4.4.2)
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.

    <Enail@school email>:
Connected to **.**.**.*** but connection died. Possible duplicate! (#4.4.2)
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.
I have checked the email addresses and the IP addresses and there are no problems. I have also checked the DNS entries and IP addresses on web sites and again, no problems.

Now this is where it gets weird...
users who send an email from webmail via bt.yahoo.com (i think) work fine, but when someone sends an email from outlook or outlook express using mail.btinternet.com for POP and SMTP servers they get the queue too long message.

    Can anyone help me out.

Have you compared headers between a successful mail and an unsuccessful returned one? Is it following the same route?

Are they using the right smtp server in Outlook?. ISPs aren't necessarily great at communicating changes.
Can they send to a non-school address fine using Outlook?

    Hi Pete

I have found the problem but dont know where the problem lies - with us or them.

    Basically this is what happens:

Using outlook/outlook express using POP & SMTP mail.btinternet.com
User can send to gmail.com, hotmail.com etc but cannot send to sherburnhigh.co.uk
User can receive from all domains including sherburnhigh.co.uk

Using online webmail bt.yahoo.com from any computer and any browser
User can send to any domain including sherburnhigh.co.uk – no problems here
User can receive from all domains including sherburnhigh.co.uk

Here is a header from bt.yahoo.com online mailbox to sherburnhigh.co.uk:
