    SmoothWall authenticaiton problem

I have just done the latest update to SmoothWalls authentication and now I am having problems.

In the services » authentication » control page I have a red X against current status. I run the diagnostics and get "Can contact authentication service" with an X against it.

In the logs for the authentication service I see

16:00:26 authd Reading ident by IP file
16:00:26 authd Clearing old login sessions
16:00:26 authd Reading temporary group map file
16:00:26 authd Fatal error at src/ds_tempmap.c:101: Missing domain field in temp map

Any thoughts on how to fix it.

I do have a call open with Stone regarding this, but often you folks are faster.

You may need to configure authentication again as the settings may be lost when updating the auth module.

I will take a look at this on Monday.

My only concern would be that it looses all the group settings I currently have. I did run the diagnostics and all the Active Directory settings were showing as okay.

    Hi there,

Just having a quick glance at some of the code, do you have any temporary bans (Services > Authentication > Temporary Bans) currently in place? If you do, can you try removing these, restarting authentication and if that works re-create them.

This may be the same for if you have ever "overloaded" AD users by creating a user with the same name in Local Users, to assign a user to a different group than AD is telling us.

Let me know how you get on,

    Rob.

    Thanks.

I have definitely got some temporary bans in place. I will give your advice a go in the morning.

I may, though working from memory, have overloaded an AD user.

    Thank you.

This has worked and SmoothWall authentication is back up and running.
