I have been told by our MFL department that Nelson Thornes Kerboodle! product times out during lessons.
NT tech support suggest that this may be caused by a problem with our ISA server, even though I told them we didn`t have a ISA. I am wondering if smoothwall is caching the content, or if its just the site.
Is anyone else having problems, or can anyone confirm it known working via a smoothwall UTM?
Thanks

11th June 2010, 02:51 PM #2 rob - there's sometimes issues with sites which take a long time to do something, and the proxy times out before the browser has given up.. but that is unusual. If possible, PM me a link, and any credentials I need to get in and we will test it.

11th June 2010, 05:21 PM #4 Hi Rob,
Just so you know, I can confirm it works on my site, with a smoothwall box...Although did have an issue with sound but that was only because I had banned mp3's through the smoothwall - Other than that sweet as a bell!

12th June 2010, 12:26 PM #5 We use kerboodle and smoothwall and have had reports it sometimes doesn't work but I have never actually seen it not working - its always fine when I get there!

14th June 2010, 09:00 AM #6 Ahh, interestingly I was fighting this battle last week.
Kerboodle itself works fine through our Smoothwall boxen, but documents loading into Word take about 30s to open. Word fires up, so it seems the headers are arriving, but then sits at its loading screen for this time.
Other documents are fine.

Tom may be onto something with the lingering connection.

I'll have a chat with our support team about this and find out who you talked to.
We do have some customers who've had a intermittent issues with accessing kerboodle! via ISA server.
In these situations there appears to be a problem when the ISA server attempts to authenticate the users against the domain controller and a 12209 error appears in the ISA server logs.
On the kerboodle! side of things for some reason this results in a POST request with a Content-Length of zero and hence an error (I'm not sure if anything other than the first packet of the POST arrives at our servers).
Some customers have worked around the issue by allowing anonymous access to kerboodle! but we would like to get to the bottom of this issue.
I don't think you're likely to be suffering from the same issue but does your Smoothwall authenticate the user against a domain controller before authorising a requests?

14th June 2010, 04:57 PM #9 @AndyDavies:
We'd love to help out with debugging any issues between Kerboodle and SmoothWall - whatever help you need, let me know, and if we, or our customers find anything "fun", we'll get in touch.
PS. May be worth getting a 'sig which says you are a kerboodle type (which it appears you are?!)
