    Question Deep Nines - thoughts?

    Good morning!

We're seriously considering a move to a DeepNines web filter / AV box for its easy integration into active directory and its advanced ability to block proxies.

The initial cost is significant, but seems worthwhile for the result.

Has anyone tried this product? They're providing many examples around the US, but love less biased feedback.

    Thanks!

    Damian

My feedback probably comes under the heading "biased"

As a competitor, we have not seen much of deep nines recently. They were high on my radar a couple of years back, but folk like 8e6 (now part of the Marshall empire...) seemed to do a lot better than them.

Which product are you moving from?

We're getting away from a Fortigate (Fortinet) product. It's been *very* hard to integerate into AD, and the lack of AD group based filtering is tough when we're trying to implement different filtering for students and teachers.

We're also needing more reporting by user to help reduce poor use of internet time, etc.

Yeah, I know fortinet "scrapes" the AD rather than having a link permanently, that can cause issues with larger installs.

Looks like you're not getting a lot of feedback. To be fair, this site is still full of brits - i'm afraid our buddies across the water are still in the minority. With Deep Nines being a very US-centric product (never seen it full stop in the UK/EU) i'm not surprised we are short of opinions on here.

If you want to give our product a try, we'd be happy to let you have an eval (PM/email me for a US contact) - i'm not going to give you the sales pitch, that's not my style, and it's not what edugeek's about, but I believe it'd be beneficial to take a look (even without my biased hat on)!
