    Is Smoothwall what I need?

P.S. the link in the logo at the top of the forum doesn't work : http://www.smoothwall.net/edugeek

I want to provide internet to a part of our campus not via out JANET link but via an ADSL2 link, it would be nice to be able to block porn and bittorrent (and possibly a few other things) but essentially I want to be able to replicate an "internet at home" experience - however I would like to be able to log everything

So is SmoothWall Education the way to go?

Additionally if at all possible I would like to be able to route some traffic to/from specific ports/ips/ via out JANET connection so would this also be possible ot is this a total non starter (as all other traffic should go via the ADSL line(s).

    nadeem,

Thanks for pointing out the broken link. Somebody has obviously been fiddling with the webserver, I will go poke them with a sharp stick.

Yes - what you are doing is all eminently possible. I would suggest taking one of our UTM boxes, or indeed the software only Advanced Firewall product on evaluation.
If you pass me your details I can organise this as soon as you need it.

As Tom has said sounds very much like you need Smoothwall. We have our LEA WAN and an ADSL line in ours and switch between them as needed and can route set traffic via one or the other (A feature known as John's Feature if I'm thinking of the right feature)

We have Smoothwall and we are over the moon with it, its been 12 months of much reduced Internet issues so very glad to have it and looking forward to the continued "loving" of it.

I noticed Smoothwall link wasn't working a week or so ago, but didn't think it was worth a mention...
