Monitoring content on Google Apps
Hello,
I hope I have posted this in the correct forum.
Our school is using Google Apps Education Edition and we want to monitor the student accounts for inappropriate content etc.?
Anyone out there using Google Apps?
How do you monitor the student accounts?
Thanks,
techman

1st March 2010, 07:49 PM #2 Which part do you want to monitor? Email? Documents? Sites?
EMail - postini
Documents - you can't (unless they are shared)
Sites- more difficult - my students set them as visible to users of my apps domain so I can see them.
As far as I know.

Google Apps
Just email.
I have added Postini services but it's not that straight forward to use.
All I see are Message Filters.

2nd March 2010, 08:12 AM #5 Mail archiving is a paid service I believe - even on the education edition so filtering and the logs are more or less all you have.
This isn't that different to the service we get off our RBC (although I'd argue their filtering controls are better than Postini). I wasn't that impressed by their spam handling - it seems to duplicate what is available in GMail and highlights the fact that Postini was bought in and slapped on to their business services, it isn't quite as good as it should be yet.
