install-dgav is a symbolic link that points to /var/smoothwall/mods/filtering/dgav/install.pl

That file currently resides in /tmp/var/smoothwall/mods/filtering/dgav/install.pl because we started in /tmp. This is the cause of the "command not found" error.

You can remedy the situation by moving the extracted files into the expected locations:

    mv /tmp/tmp/* /tmp
    mv /tmp/usr/* /usr
    mv /tmp/var/* /var

EDIT: When I keep saying 'symbolic link' read: shortcut.

Excellent. Once you perform those three moves (mv) all the files will be in their proper locations. They will no longer exist underneath your /tmp/.

Once they are all moved, you can then run /tmp/install-dgav properly.

    Argh.

you were nearly there I think.

When in tmp, don't type "install-dgav"
    type "./install-dgav"

Linux requires you to explicitly name the current directory (it is not in the path) for security reasons (imagine someone put a malicious executable called "ls" in /tmp!!)

I will have to try tomorrow when i am back at work.

If that doesn't work i am going to scrap it.

Why don't the instructions go like they say?

@FN-GM: I'm not sure why you are struggling so much. I've just tried it on my Smoothie Express box at home and it was simples.

Here's some step by step instructions:

    1. Download the DGAV plugin (filename DGAV-SW3-2.8.0.6-6.4.4.2-i686-b012.tgz) from View topic - DGAV Installation Instructions • community.smoothwall.org plus PuTTY and PSCP from PuTTY Download Page into your Downloads folder.

    2. Open a command prompt and put yourself in the downloads folder. (i.e. cd \Users\username\Downloads)

    3. Do the following two commands replacing 192.168.10.1 with your box's IP (the results of which are also shown):
    Code:
    C:\Users\Ric\Downloads>pscp -P 222 DGAV-SW3-2.8.0.6-6.4.4.2-i686-b012.tgz root@192.168.10.1:/tmp
    root@192.168.10.1's password:
    DGAV-SW3-2.8.0.6-6.4.4.2- | 810 kB | 810.3 kB/s | ETA: 00:00:00 | 100%

    C:\Users\Ric\Downloads>putty -P 222 root@192.168.10.1
    4. A PuTTY window will open prompting for your password... enter it.

    5. Type the commands below:
    Code:
    smoothie (root) ~ $ cd /tmp
    smoothie (root) /tmp $ ls
    DGAV-SW3-2.8.0.6-6.4.4.2-i686-b012.tgz
    smoothie (root) /tmp $ tar xzvf ./DGAV-SW3-2.8.0.6-6.4.4.2-i686-b012.tgz -C /
    6. There will be a load of output as the files extract. It should look like this:
    Code:
    tmp/install-dgav
    var/smoothwall/mods/filtering/dgav/archives/dgav.bz2
    var/smoothwall/mods/filtering/dgav/version
    var/smoothwall/mods/filtering/dgav/installed
    var/smoothwall/mods/filtering/dgav/install.pl
    var/smoothwall/mods/filtering/base/archives/base.bz2

    7. Type the following:
    Code:
    smoothie (root) /tmp $ ./install-dgav
    8. You will see the following output in pretty colours:
    Code:
About to Install dgav - version DGAV-SW3-2.8.0.6-6.4.4.2-i686-b012
    Installing Base Files
    Installing dgav Files
    Installing Config Files
    Updating Green IP Address Information
    [192.168.10.1]
    Patching sysinit
    Restarting Smoothd
    [OK]
    Finished Installing dgav
    9. You will now have a filtering tab in the web interface!

As long as you do not miss any steps and copy the commands above character for character, you should not have a problem. Including the downloads it should take approx. 2 minutes to perform the install!
