cheers that has extracted the files into the tmp folder. Inside the tmp folder there is another folder called tmp. Inside that there is a file called install-DGAV. When i try and run the command i get the attached.

    Thanks

Is the tar options case sensitive? I think they are. You've put -c and you need -C

And whats in your /tmp/tmp folder? Have you got execution permissions on?

Or just run the command in the above post and install Endian Firewall

Run this and then your files should be in the correct place

    mv /tmp/tmp/* /tmp

    Then run install-dgav

In /tmp so if you run
    Code:
    /tmp/install-dgav
it should work. If it dont try
    Code:
    chmod 777 /tmp -R
    and then try again.

What the chmod 777 does is give full permissions (including execute) on all the files in teh tmp folder. You shouldnt do stuff like that normally but lets rule out permissions as the issue

I tried that (well tried to test it in virtualbox) and got a kernel panic in virtualbox and the setup never completed properly in vmware player.

and regarding the case sensitivity, it should be -C as filenames are case sensitive in Linux.

Did you try the pscp command I mentioned at Antivirus Add-on for Smoothwall. ?

You seem to keep copying and extracting to random places and this is why you are getting 'command not found' and other errors.

Im running version 2.2 in Xensever with no problems. Ran 2.2 at home on physical hardware for a couple of years, and have recently moved to v 2.3. IME its a much more finished and stable product then "SWE with addons". SWE on its own it 100%.

The problem is ric people are telling me to do different things.

    Who do i actually follow?

i am a total linux idiot is its all confusing me.

The Person who told me the extraction command was tom from smoothwall.

Cna i run that command now things have been extracted.

I just cant understand why the instructions on the site dont work.

    Thanks
