Pictures.com...a potentially dangerous site??
I have recently discovered quite a few of our students using a site called Pictures.com
We didn't have the site blocked (it is now!), but many of the searches (for naughty things) were automatically blocked by our Smoothwall box.
However, this site appears to actually cache images from other image-indexing sites and even if the other sites are blocked the images still appear!
We have managed to find some rather unsavoury stuff which the kids shouldn't see!
Wondered if anyone else has had any experience of this site?

Looks like an aggregator - namely, that it pulls the results direct from the search engines it lists. As we have Google Images blocked, and the naughty parts of Bing.com, the results it has returned seem quite clean to me (as no results were returned for Google and there were random blocked ones for Bing.com. Photobucket is the one I'd be concerned about... Hmm.

Not sure. The results from home [obviously] can show some very strong results.
I will test it tomorrow on site.

Nile has had a look - it puts in a "RTA" tag, which we block, when your search is believed to return adult results. We'll add it to search term filtering asap. - that might tie it down enough to make it safe to use for those as want to.

Some very questionable results from Photobucket and YouTube! I've emailed RM and asked them add it to their lists - they will probably ignore me and tell me to buy SafetyNet Universal, but it is worth a try...

Not blocked but not getting results from Google etc but is picking up other results, have requested to be blocked just to be safe.
