A year 8 pupil typed in the words "third world debt" into google images, with STRICT safe search enabled.
Third row down is a disgusting image that is certainly unsuitable for adults, let alone minors. (Bet your doing it now lol). For those that havn't, its a disgusting image of a girl with her head not right. In fact it involves being in a black bin bag.
So much for the filtering!?!?!?
Just a warning to everyone to tell their ICT Dept and poss RE about this!!
I wouldn't say it is a Samrt Filer fail, more of a Google fail, the site is a bit of a rant againt Islam by some Americans, and IMHO should be blocked at a local level, but in teh whole the site is not really offensive, just ranty in an 'ignore-them-and-they-will-go-away' manner.
Nothing is 100% perfect, and this is just one of those things which slips through the net (no pun intended)!
Report it using the SafeSearch dropdown.
Got this sorted for Smoothwall customers.
I have reported it to LGfL and also to Google. The 1 website was banned but they are plenty more with them on
Like anything, Google's performance will never be 100% accurate.
Google Images is one of the place we find deep URL filtering to be a really useful feature.
