We host a blog/semi VLE (blogbug.net) for our year 6 pupils which we have used for years, until last Thursday when it just stopped.
To the outside world it works fine, to inside the BGFL network it just constantly loads (not even a time out message or 404) just a permenent loading state with just a white background.
I have contacted BGFL who say not them and we are awaiting a reply from our hosts (godaddy.com).
What in your best opinions coud be stopping us connect in school?
Thanks
Chris
Can you get to the server that hosts it, from a quick lookup you appear to be on a shared host with godaddy's parent company 'the planet'.
The server is: http://74.53.191.120/ (or http://78.bf.354a.static.theplanet.com/)
And since it doesn't serve anything on the default host you should get a 404 at least identifying the server.
Since it sounds like it's only a problem from internal computers then you're either looking at a routing issue or some kind of exclusion list, and since BGFL have said all is fine I suppose we should rule those out. You're left with stuff internal to your network then.
Perhaps an odd browser configuration?
Anything been updated recently?
Any new local content filtering, perhaps something with heuristics that's just decided the site is bad?
Have you tried other browsers and tools - wget, fetch, curl, etc? Any luck there?

Thanks Chillibear,
It seems to be not just our site, I have had people test it in 2 other schools all provided by BGFL.
I have left it on the loading screen now for almost 45 minutes and I did get the splash screen to load but have got no further. Its almost like its on the worlds slowest connection.
I am going to get out ICT Co-ordinator who owns the site to see if its something host side.
EDIT - Those 2 links also display the same constant loading behaviour.
So over an hour later I got this error -
While trying to retrieve the URL: Blogbug v4
The following error was encountered:
•Read Timeout
The system returned:
[No Error]A Timeout occurred while waiting to read data from the network. The network or server may be down or congested. Please retry your request.
Well the site is slow, but works from the couple of independent connections I've tested. Perhaps the BGFL's gateway servers have ended up on some kind of godaddy blacklist and the connection is just being dropped silently (I do that myself with some of my servers and intrusion detection systems). Hopefully they can at least confirm that for you.

Thanks Chillibear, you have backed up what we were thinking.
I'm the above mentioned ICT Coordinator. Just to clarify (although I don't think it will make any difference to the situation) the host is Hostgator and the domain registrar is Godaddy.
Thanks for the input Chillibear.
Tony
