Hi Guys
I'm looking at stopping the kids changing the safe search options on google image search. Up till recently blocking the preferences tab has worked, but now google have put in a handy drop down box to let the kids change it while not going to the preferences at all!
I found a reply from google on a thread here Appending text to URLs thru proxy? (Force Google safesearch) - NOVELL FORUMS
Which says
If your school deploys a proxy on your web traffic, it may be possible
to configure your proxy to append "&safe=strict" to all requests to
images.google.com. This will cause strict safesearch to be used
regardless of the preferences page setting.
Which is exactly what I want to do, but.. what I don't know is how to get ISA to always append "&safe=strict" at the end of google searches. Does anyone here have any idea?

5th October 2009, 05:50 PM #3 Simon, if you send me a PM with your email address I'll send you the ISAPI filter which I've already sent to kearton. This should enforce strict safe search for you.
Iain.

I added thes into my squidGuard box this morning
rew strictgoogle {
s@(google.co.uk/search.*q=.*)@\1\&safe=active@i
s@(google.co.uk/images.*q=.*)@\1\&safe=active@i
s@(google.co.uk/groups.*q=.*)@\1\&safe=active@i
s@(google.co.uk/news.*q=.*)@\1\&safe=active@i
}
Which after many other failed attempts finaly seems to work quite well. No use if you don't have a squidbox though.

We are having a huge problem with our Websense system not applying Safe Search at the moment, can someone send me this filter please? I can't send PM's yet as I have not made five posts(#?)

Just for anyone else's benefit reading this thread, we have successfully deployed Iain's filter on our ISA, and it does not conflict with Websense.
Many thanks Iain !

Iain, Thank you for the file - I've registered the DLL which you suggested however the filter doesn't appear within ISA & I'm unsure where I should be looking for diagnostics?

Hi Iain is it possible to get a copy of your ISAPI filer to enforce strict safe search on ISA?
