    SWGFL and YouTube

Does anyone know why when i am tring to view youtube videos using the filtered proxy (Rule added to allow youtube) the videos come up with "An error occured, please try again later"

The videos work perfectly when un filtered.

I had this a while back when I was trying to embed videos in to a custom made web portal (my theoretical way of providing access to videos while still having YouTube filtered).

I spent quite a whack of time on the phone with SWGfL support and didn't get anywhere - it seems more modular filtering is required for this to happen which means moving to SmartCache or implementing something like Smoothwall (which lots talk of here!)

I've experienced this with another provider and it tends to be that the video is hosted on a domain which *is* filtered even though youtube.com may not be. (I think it was some google domain I added in the end....)

Make sure you unblock a handful of youtube domains.. here's a sample log showing me getting blocked by smoothie trying to watch a youtube vid - I get nailed on "filetype: flv" but if any of the other domains, eg. ytimg.com were blocked, you would suffer a similar fate. HTH.

Hello, I wanted to allow a couple of youtube videos but keep the rest blocked. After a while this is what the SWGFL Filter looked like:

    ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.4/jquery.min.js ALLOW
    downloads.mailchimp.com/js/jquery.form-n-validate.js ALLOW
    s.ytimg.com/yt/* ALLOW
    v7.lscache8.c.youtube.com/* ALLOW
    www.youtube.com/crossdomain.xml ALLOW
    www.youtube.com/get_video* ALLOW
    www.youtube.com/get_video_info* ALLOW

    http://www.youtube.com/user/iwasborntolearn ALLOW (youtube user)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=falHo...layer_embedded ALLOW (Single Youtube Video )
http://www.youtube.com/embed/falHoOEUFz0 ALLOW (Single Youtube Video )

    Hope this helps!
