    Smartcache needing a reboot each Monday

    Our dear ole Smartcache seems to be having some problems over the weekend. Each Monday morning it needs a reboot before it'll allow anyone to connect to the Net.

    Anyone else experienced this tiredness with Smartcache?

    Our RM support for it has expired now, so perhaps it needs to be kicked into touch.

    Or kicked in the general direction of the bin.

    We ditched ours a couple of years ago in favour of Smoothwall and yes, we were having that issue as well.

    From what I've heard Smoothwall does sound like a good alternative, finances permitting.

    Smartcache does frustrate me sometimes. RM say they do (or did) regular updates to the filter lists, but I'm not sure how they do it. I've not been able to find any traffic or logs to show any updates. Surely some some logs to show success or failure would be good?

    We also have single words like 'mobile' permanently filtered. I can't find any record of it in our filter policies.

    We used to have that with the old Smart Cache 1 - I think the logs would fill up the system - could be worth checking...

    Anyways, running smoothwall now so not an issue.
