Smoothwall - Network Guardian Alerts
Hi all -
Back again for the excellent help from this forum.
I turned on a bunch of the Alerts in my Network Guardian. After having complete information overload - I went back and started taking them off. I am getting down to not many items checked but I am still getting one set of alerts I just can't get rid of. I am sure I am missing something stupid.
Can anyone tell me what to uncheck to get rid of these?
G1132900: Caution: Large amounts of system messages are being generated, entering burst processing mode to preserve system resources. /var/log/dansguardian/access.log
G1133600: Notice: System message rates have slowed, resuming normal operations.
Second question - is there an alert that can be set for warning about detected viruses?
On the subject of viruses - is the ClamAV sufficient? We are going live next week and I am looking forward to the excellent filtering and AV. My other option on AntiVirus is to use NOD32's ICAP. Can you install the NOD32 ICAP on the actual Smoothwall? If I go the ICAP direction it does not sound efficient to filter all the request through yet another server.
Thanks again all,
Scott

13th March 2009, 11:39 PM #2 Quick answers...come back when I have not been on the beer for better ones!
1, those messages, you can ignore. We will get rid of them soon, I promise
2, Clam is a great counterpoint to (say) NOD32 on the desktop. Use one on desktop, one on network, all good
Wether theres a warning - I don't know off the top of my head, I dont think so. Monitor is in for an overhaul soon tho so watch this space

The beer sounds great. It is finally that time here.
Thanks for the answers as always.
I assume by your first answer "those messages, you can ignore. We will get rid of them soon, I promise" that it is just a cosmetic thing that I can't get rid of? I'm fine with that as long as I know I am not being an idiot missing the setting.
Time to forward all those to the bosses email now....
Have great weekend.
Thanks,
Scott

14th March 2009, 09:16 AM #4 That's exactly what I meant, yes. Basically, the warning system is a bit too twitchy!
Thankfully beer hasn't produced headache this morning, but I did leave before some of the other SmoothWall team, so I imagine that lot will be considerably less healthy than I this morning - those edugeekers hove done a BETT show or 2 with us will be able to guess who the ringleader is
