    Domain name and web host?

    Hi All,

Not sure where to post this... (MOD please move if there is a more appropriate part of the forum).

My business manager is looking to set up a catering business to move the school meals away from the LEA.

He would like a domain name a small amount of space to set up a web page.

Does anybody have recommendations/experience with a good provider and a good price/service/support structure?

Or is it just a case of Gooooogling and picking a random Domains 'R' Us provider?

    Kol.

I've been with Vidahost for the last nine months. They've been good for me. They'll sell you a domain and hosting in a package I'm sure.

Lots of people on here use CS New Media I think, although I've no experience of them myself.

I use 123-reg for all of the sites I manage, cheap enough, has lots of features and if you have problems, the support is great.

I personally use ezpz hosting. They have a great support board, good forum for any help needed, and a lot of automated installation tools. Makes making the website a lot easier!

Have you got a spare virtual server that you could host the website on yourself ?

Just buy domain name, point the DNS records to the IP of your web facing server. You should be good to go.

yeah, don't use them. They fudged a lot of things for me when they did upgrades and happened to bork a HDD with limited back ups. I did some reselling for them, left me with a lot of angry customers, which I had to refund and they didn't cover the costs.
