Connecting Outlook to office 365 via Smoothwall
I'm trying to setup Outlook clients to connect to Office 365 exchange from behind the Smoothie, and after taking an age to detect settings, it fails over to connect via HTTP rahter than TCP/IP
Can anyone advise how I open the firewall to allow TCP/IP connection for this?

Have you setup auto discover in your domain DNS?

As well as adding the autodiscover CNAME to my external DNS i added it to my DNS on site and that sped up the process tremendously.
It was quite inconsistent before that point.

We always have to turn off our proxy and change it to transparent filtering, its fine after that on the initial configuration to turn it back on. Its something to do with the authentication method I think.

How do you set the proxy settings? Might be worth trying this as it was what was causing issues for us: [Office 365] Outlook Connectivity through proxy

it should connect via https and not tcp. have you opened all urls?
