YouTube videos suddenly not playing on some computers
The staff at our school use Youtube as a great teaching resource however suddenly when you try to play any video it says 'an error occurred, please try gain later'.
It's happening on random machines. I have tried clearing cookies, cache etc... to no avail. Updated Flash player and java to no avail.
Anyone know why it's doing this?

This happened to us for one member of staff at one station [Verified by our team at that station] No other instances were reported.
It seems to have cleared up now without intervention from us.

I had this last night on my home PC - working fine - loaded a new video and then had the error message.
Tried a bunch of different vids and none worked (even ones I'd used previously - left it for a hour and it seemed fine. - My guess is Youtube may be having some issues!

We've had this happening over the past week on random computers with people who connect via our RM Smartcache. Move them to a different proxy and the videos play perfectly. Play via Smartcache proxy and the video either jumps to the end or plays with no sound! We've logged a call with RM to try and investigate any potential issues on their side.

we've had a few instances of this, resetting internet explorer from the advanced tab seems to be curing it.

We are getting 'an error occurred, please try gain later', seems to be a proxy issue.

Trouble with that is we have about 200 machines...

We have our proxy via lancsngfl so i'll get in touch and see what's going on. Maybe they'll have a solution? Unless YouTube has decided to change the way it streams video...

We have the same issue - I'm inclined to think it's a proxy / filtering issue of some kind. We currently use a Lightspeed Rocket filtering device, I'm trying to get some more information out of it to tell me what it thinks it's blocking. My guess is that YouTube have changed a URL or similar used interally for hosting - we explicitly allow youtube.com and youtube.co.uk on our filter, but YouTube's web page is now trying ot pick up video content from a different URL it'll get blocked.

I wonder if it's anything to do with VEVO? I suspected it might be a different URL. I've added youtu.be too but it's made no difference

Enabling ActiveX filtering worked for me when our media students were having this issue earlier in the year.

LGfL has this on their support pages:
Evidence indicates that Google have, without any announcement, recently introduced an additional URL in the background as part of the process by which YouTube streams its videos.
As a result of this videos can now appear intermittent, or not appear at all.
Using the tools provided we have been able to identify that YouTube now streams its videos from googlevideo.com.
Thus in order to enable access to YouTube and its video service in Webscreen 2.0, the following three entries ONLY should be added to the list of allowed URLs and keywords in each relevant policy:
Any other entries relating to either site should be removed. The three entries given above are wild-carded and hence will be applied to any variants.

Yep, that's got it - I've just figured the same thing out from our logs. Adding googlevideo.com to the allowed URL patterns on our Lightspeed Rocket has fixed the issue.
