I've set up my Windows 2008R2 Server with the IIS role and the basic (default) options.
Tested it and the IIS start page appears.
What I want is to host a proxy.pac file on the server (as the web proxy I have doesn't allow me to host it on itself). If I put the file in the wwwroot folder on the server and try and http into it ( http://<serverIP>/proxy.pac ) I get a 404 File or directory not found error. The auto configuration is clearly not working in IE.
So should I be able to web into the file once it's there? Presumably yes and then IE would allow me to download the file so what really basic thing have I not done? I can't know if the proxy.pac file is correct until I can be sure the PC is accessing it
Open the web.config file in the root of IIS and add this:
HTML Code:<system.webServer> <staticContent> <mimeMap fileExtension=".pac" mimeType="application/x-ns-proxy-autoconfig" /> </staticContent> </system.webServer>
