I see no reason why fibre can't be installed pole to building. In many schools they have internal fibre links running building to building. So long as it's installed properly, it should be absolutely fine. Of course I'd always recommend fibre cables in the ground first wherever possible. It's more weather resistant and practically vandal proof too.

We have just had FTTC install by talktalk business, now seeing about 30mb down and 11mb up. A massive jump from 8mb down and 0.8mb up. Managing to do this at £50 per month.
