We have just installed The APS and DPS Software and have got to the stage where we need to import the pupils.
Do you have to import the plasc file AND a csv file or can you just create a csv with all the data in on file?
We use SIMS.net and apparently our PLASC file wont have any of the Year 9s in as they haven't started yet (we are an upper school so we don't have years 7 or 8).
So, is it OK to put all of the Plasc info as well as theReg Group, Teaching set etc in one file or does it not work like that?

IIRC you can use a CSV as an alternative to the PLASC.
i beleive that some plasc files wont import to the tests, something to do with when the system was brought out the changed the way plasc was put together, i have the convertor if you need it, but go with CSV

IIRC the new format the govt require is now an XML file called SLASC - but RM didn't bother to update from the old version - therefore you have to convert to the old PLASC format for the APS.RM provide a tool to do this but I don't remember where it is.
Conversion utility if anyone needs it
Thanks everyone.
tried creating the required csv file but SIMS doesn't use the same names for their fields that are needed in the report so I can't find them (fields like In Care, FSM eligibility).
Does anyone know the equivalent fields that SIMS uses compared to what RM wants.
They ask for:
UPN, Surname, Forename, Gender, DOB, NC year Actual, Ethnicity, SEN status, In Care, FSM eligibility, First Language, Registration Group, Subject, Teaching Set, Initial Level Assessment

Just trying to get this up and running again but hav no idea how to create the needed PLASC/Census files needed
Anyone know how its done in SIMS?

Hi
It is called school census in menu at top called school census iirc
Just note this year dont need to use convert utility just dont want people getting confused..

OK thanks - now that I know where it saves the thing to I can see we have an XML file from October so once I get the APS up and running (awaiting new reg key) I'll give that a bash..
Can anyone tell me an easy way of seperating the candidates out for individual exams when importing them? Is there an easy way?
When we imported the PLASC in we can only upload the whole school to the QCA software, with the exception of a few...also is it normal to have to input the centre number and candidate number individually?
I love online testing...especially when the kids ring the firebell twice a week...
