We have 7 rooms at once running the test, each individual teacher runs a flight deck for each room to start the tests off when they are ready.
We have a feeling that having all these filght decks at the same time may be causing a problem with them appearing to be slow. We have toyed with the idea with just one person starting all 135 tests and then just the staff being responsible for helping with unlocking tests etc.
How are you doing it?

Re: Flight deck, how many do you have running for the tests?
its a possibility that cause there are so many tests going on at the same time that its slow.....
I have a room with GIG switch and all desktops have GIG cards, and that is 30 students, and we are finding it slow when the tests are getting sent back to the server when it says they are going back for marking....
This testing software does create a lot of traffic on the network..... we have 3 rooms which are all in use, but only one of the rooms is doing the exmas and we have sessioned forms to come in at different times, I.E today i have to run 4 test sessions
its doing my head in!

Our problem is staff are insisting we run this many at once. The split half the year group and want it all done as soon as possible.

Well best thing to do is turn around arrange meeting with head and ict co-ordinator and say to make this work you need to do this and this...
If it comes to it let me know and I will gladly pop come over as an 'expert' to talk to your staff on best practice on running the tests..
but then you know what an expert is x is unknown in maths and a spurt is a drip under preasure so expert is unknown-drip.

@Russ
I have only managed to persuade them to not run two tests in a day. Instead of running them back to back on Monday and Thursday they are going to run them Mon, Tues,Wed and Thursd.
But there will still be 135 kids at once doing each one...............!
We shall see.
