In my new role of the Infrastructure team I have been tasked with the following:
Find some cameras we can install in our server room (data centre) to monitor the room and email when motion is detected - what do you guys use if any for this?
Get some colour coding going on with patch leads i.e. ISCSI, SAN, Servers, Management tools, uplinks etc - he wants me to look at using shielded CAT6 - again any recommendations/ideas?
Security camera wise I can highly recommend the mobotix range: especially this bad boy: MOBOTIX AG - The HiRes Video Company / IP Video Cameras
motion sensors with highlightable areas, no need for a central controller and general single lens awesomeness. It's what we use to do the BETT show cam every year.
and the lovely people at Net-Ctrl can you help you out with them too :-)
Cheers for that, like the look of it.
Is the backbone infrastructure Cat6? If not then no point in using Cat6 patch leads.

It is basically between switch and server this, at the minute its just cheap CAT5e patch leads. We are just trying to tidy up and get some organisation in there.
CAT6 will be less easy to tidy as it's less flexible.
