Default behaviour of iTunes ?
We give our staff a local user profile on their laptops as well as a network users. The local user is an admin account and we have noticed one or two member of staff have install iTunes. Now we don’t have a problem with this at all as some are using iTunes to view the schools video podcasts and also other educational podcasts. The reason iTunes has come to my attention is that one staff users has nearly 2gb of music in his network area which is part of iTunes. If a local user has iTunes installed does it replicate when say the network user account uses iTunes?
I am probably talking out of my A*s* here but I am not a iTunes user so need some clarification. Ultimately I need the music gone for the staffs Home directory on the server.

iTunes stores Music/Podcasts/etc in My Documents. If your redirecting my documents or using offline files I expect this data is traveling onto your network.

we had the same problem with a user with itunes. but 2gb is nothing this user had closer 30Gb! Deleted all from their area and never heard any complaints yet

in iTunes; change the location where music files are stored to the local hard drive.

I'll agree with that. I even do it on my home computer.

Also; you will find that even when you move files to the local hard drive iTunes still likes to keep a folder with settings in the users My Documents folder. I find that (if you redirect My Documents) setting this to 'Make available offline' ensures that everything runs nicely.
