I done a copy of data from server A to server B a week or so ago and now I'd like to do the copy again but obviously only copy the files/directories that have been added, deleted or changed etc.
Would I just need: robocopy \\serverA\dir \\serverB\dir /mir
That should be fine. Also look at the /zb switch for dealing with files that may locked/in use and the max retries and time between retries switches to make life a little more helpful. Oh and dont forget the logging option after to make sure you know everything copied over.
Just be very careful with /mir as it warns because if you point it at the wrong directory it will start deleting files that you don't want to delete. Don't do what I did once and point it at a root folder with a load of folders inside and not the sub folder to that :)
Just tried: robocopy \\serverA\folder1 \\ServerB\folder 1 /mir
Instead of mirroring to 'folder 1' which exists, it created a folder called 'folder' and copied everything into that! Any ideas?
Unless that's a typo, you'll need speech marks around path names that have spaces in.
